Keeping Score
Do you keep a journal of the results from all your workouts? It doesn't take much time to log what you did for the day and it is incredible useful for several reasons. The major one being you can track your progress. If you see that your times are getting lower on certain workouts and your weights are getting heavier on others, you are progressing. That is a good thing. If your numbers are not getting better, something is wrong, and it is very important that you notice if that happens. Then you can experiment with your diet, sleep, or anything else you want and see what happens to your numbers in your workouts. If they improve, your headed in the right direction. Another reason to keep track of your "scores" in your journal is because when a workout comes out that you've done before, you can check out your previous weight or time and really use it as motivation to push yourself harder and get a better score.
So, get a journal already! What are you waiting for?
W.O.D Tuesday 5/27/08
With a continuous running clock do one pull-up the first minute, two pull-ups the second minute, three pullups the third minute... continuing as long as you are able.
*Use as many sets each minute as needed.
*Post number of minutes completed to comments

microsoft excel makes a great easily editable journal...
just caught up on the 400m run w/7hspu as rx'd 13:24 the last hspu took like 45 seconds cause i was too spent.
Went from 15 rounds on an assisted pullup machine to 5 rounds + 5 reps with the Jump Stretch bands. And what's crazy is how much harder these pullups feel compared to the ones done on the assisted pullup machine.
Disappointing, but at the same time, feels great to know that I'll finally get to start seeing some progress with these new bands...Thanks so much Sue!!
made up the bear from yesterday. 45 / 55 / 65 / 75 / 85. whew, much harder than i thought it'd be! somewhat light-headed right now, 30 minutes post-workout.
miguel, i use a google doc spreadsheet to keep track of workouts since i can access it when i'm without my computer. it's nothing fancy, just has columns for the date; workout description; weights/time/rounds; and random comments.
Miguel, do you have a heavy bag of your own? I love heavy bag work. If you are ever in the mood for a bag oriented crossfit wod and some company please let me know!
Howdy everyone! I had to do jumping pull-ups on these. My goal was ten. However on my eighth minute I couldn't get the 8th one in. So I completed 7 minutes and 7 full reps.
They are really tiring! What a workout for such a short period of time.

Got to 6 mins on the pull-ups. I think I am finally getting the kip pull-up down. Yeah!
Faith, Sue-
I need to try out those bands sometime.
This morning:
Continuous Pull-up Clock
-15 Rounds (PR)
Then later today I pounded out "The Bear" with Nick to make up for yesterday.
Round 1 - 65#
Round 2 - 95#
Round 3 - 115#
Round 4 - 125# (PR)
Round 5 - 135# (PR)
That last round may have been the most uncomfortable feeling ever.
Footwork Drills
5 x 3 minute rounds on heavy bag
(punching)
Jab
Jab Cross
Cross Hook Cross/Hook Cross Hook
Punches + Kicks
Elbows and knees
4 x 2 minute rounds on heavy bag
(stickwork)
Forehand
Backhand
Circle hits
Combos
11 minutes + 7 miserable reps into minute 12
Faith,
great job! The band is your friend...love the band...
Ashleigh,
sounds like you don't need a band now that you're getting your kip on!
"The Bear" (make-up from yesterday)
First time trying out some of the olympic lifts (i.e. deadlift, front squat), so took it easy at first.
30#
35#
45# (failed--couldn't bring from back squat to overhead on third try)
35#
35#
I would have loved to have tried 40#, but the weights only went straight from 35# to 45#. Maybe next time =)
"Death by Pullup"
18 Rounds + 11 (PR)
All of you have me excited to make up "The Bear"!
Damn Huff!
Over 180 pullups??? I think you need wear a weight vest!
Miguel, do you have a heavy bag of your own? I love heavy bag work. If you are ever in the mood for a bag oriented crossfit wod and some company please let me know!
huff's 18 rounds + 11 is RIDICULOUS.
